Innovative mobile storage system frees-up much needed floor space.

An innovative mobile storage system from Office Storage Solutions has freed-up much needed floor space at a facility used by a satellite broadcaster to establish the quality of different types and grades of digital set top boxes.

The broadcaster currently has around 1,200 such boxes in for testing at any one time, with plans to analyse even more going forward.

Before we installed their mobile storage system, virtually every conceivable space was used to stock boxes waiting to be analysed, including free standing cupboards and valuable floor area. 

In addition to making it difficult and time-consuming to keep accurate records, this somewhat haphazard legacy system was preventing the installation of additional workstations.

That’s all changed now. The new system has a capacity of 2,300 units, which is easily enough to cope with planned departmental expansion. It also incorporates 8 large drawers for cables and handheld remote controls; all within a far smaller footprint than before - just 5m x 4 m

As a direct result of purchasing their mobile storage system from Office Storage Solutions, the broadcaster has been able to:

  • Re-organise their working area
  • Install additional workstations
  • Once again enabled the department to provide a truly centralised testing service, with all technicians located within the same area.
