When Sony Professional Solutions – Europe, in conjunction with Kulu Productions Ltd, developed a new TV Centre in Turkmenistan, the problem was not only sourcing a company who could provide a storage solution for over 35,000 discs and tapes of various sizes, but also finding one who would be prepared to install the storage at a site 3000 miles from the UK.

A former Soviet Republic in Central Asia, Turkmenistan has a population of just over five million. The country has strived hard in recent years to break out of Russia’s hold on its exports. And with its economy growing stronger each year, the new and modern TV Centre is seen almost as a flagship – a testament to their ambition, to their determination to continue to grow and prosper as a developing nation…

The system was manufactured within three weeks, checked and double-checked and then packaged for export and delivered to Sony, Basingstoke. All components were then flown to Turkmenistan.
