Safes, Fire Safes and Data Safes

What’s the differences between the choices?

  • Safe (Cash or Valuable safes)
  • Fire Safe
  • Data Safe

A safe is generally used to deter theft of cash, valuables and documents. However, a firesafe will provide a good measure of protection against the heat, smoke and water associated with fires.  These are often rated (as an example) for 90 minutes at 1000 degrees.  However, computer media and data is more sensitive to heat than most paper files, therefore a datasafe often not only allows more logical storage of tapes, disks and other media, but should also give additional protection to prevent heat damage to computer media.

Combi safes generally do a combination of tasks. For example: a combi Data Safes could provide additional cash theft protection as well as protection against the heat generated by fires (and often water ingress from a fire system or the Fire Brigade’s hoses).
Cash / Firesafes will contain sections allowing safe and discrete storage of cash amounts (often with a seperately lockable internal division) plus allowing extra space for files and docuements to be protected from theft and fire.

Offering the advantage of many of the above, but allowing for easier integration into existing storage, versatile, lockable filing cabinet safes are often an excellent option.
